Assistant Professor -Pathology Omdurman Islamic University; Head of Histopathology and Cytology Department, National Health Laboratory-Khartoum, Sudan.

Dr Azza Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of pathology at the Omdurman Islamic University Sudan. She is also the Head of deparment in Histopathology and Cytology at the National Health Laboratories Khartoum Sudan.

Dr Ahmed is an active member of the International Academy of Cytopatholog (MIAC) and is a Fellow of the Arab Board of Anatomic Pathology. Dr Ahmeds also heads the examination committee at the Sudan Medical Specialization Board and is a member of the Histopathology training council. Her main Interestes are in Histopathology annd Cytopathology and would like to make a contribution towards the advancement of Pathology in Africa.

ASAP in collaboration with the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (COPECSA) and Aga Khan University (AKU) held a successful 2.5 day workshop on cancer staging with over 20 pathologists from across the ECSA region and expert faculty from the United States, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

The workshop series, held November 16-18, 2018; at AKU in Nairobi, Kenya, featured the following cancers:

Head & Neck
Breast
Endometrial & Ovarian
Gastric & Esophageal.

The sessions consisted of short, 30 minute lectures covering the most important information for solving the cases, 2-hour sessions for completing cases in small groups, and a 1-hour session where challenging, local cases were reviewed by the expert faculty.
