Dr. Edda Vuhahula graduated from University of Dar es Salaam in 1985, received her PhD in Pathology from Hiroshima University in 1995 and her Fellowship of the College of Pathologists in East, Central and Southern Africa 2010. She had post doc Fellowship in Adelide University (Australia) and Gade’s Institute of Pathology (Bergen, Norway) in 1997-98 and in 2000, respectively. In both, the concentration was on molecular pathology.
Her main research and clinical interest has been on head and neck pathology and melanoma. She has also engaged herself on general pathology. She has over 20 peer-reviewed publications.
She has had several leadership positions in academic medicine and in East Africa Pathology, including Head of Department (2006 - 2012), APECSA Secretary General (2006-2008), EADIAP President elect and President (2010-2012 and 2013-to date, respectively), Treasurer, COPECSA.
Since 2008, she has been involved in addressing the problems of quality in histopathology in East Africa and with support of BDIAP, she organized a number of successful basic training of histotechnicians and pathologists in East Africa and other neighbouring countries.
