Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University Hospital. 

Dr. Jeannette Guarner graduated from La Salle Medical School in Mexico City in 1983. She did her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency and a Surgical Pathology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA graduating in 1989.

Dr. Guarner returned to Mexico City where she was the Directory of the Clinical Laboratory at the Mexican National Cancer Institute. IN 1996 she moved back to Atlanta and worked at the Infectious Disease Pathology Branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2007 she came to the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University. She is currently the Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory at Emory University Hospital Midtown.

Her main research and clinical interest has been infectious disease pathology with over 150 publications on the topic. Since joining Emory University she has been involved in education creating web based interactive modules for medical students and residents. She has continued to be involved in Global Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Latin America and Ethiopia.
